FAQ

  • In general, therapy helps you by being a safe place where you are encouraged to look within and explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, in order to gain a deeper understanding of your inner experience and how this then shapes how you experience your life. At a practical level, therapy can help you learn specific strategies and practices for dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, and difficult relationships. It can help you discover new perspectives on thorny problems, which helps you to make better decisions, build better relationships, develop more effective coping strategies, and help you find greater emotional resilience for life’s ups and downs.

  • There's no standard answer — it depends on what you're working on, how long it's been going on, and what you want from the process. Some people come for a focused stretch of three to six months around a specific situation. Others do longer, deeper work over a year or more. We check in regularly about how it's going and whether the pace and frequency feel right.

  • Yes, I often suggest something to think about, notice, or practice between sessions. It can range from things like getting outside and breathing, to journaling, to reading, to practice setting a boundary, to goal-oriented tasks. It all depends on what we’re working towards and what you find useful.

  • Absolutely. You have the choice of meeting either in person at my Bellevue office, or virtually from wherever you are. Some people like the personal vibe of meeting IRL, and others prefer the convenience of meeting virtually. Both are equally effective.

  • I offer three options.

Initial Consultations are 20 minutes long. This is an opportunity for us to meet, get to know each other a bit, ask questions and to decide if it feels like a “fit”.

Individual Therapy Sessions are 50 minutes long. This is where the heart of the process happens. I usually recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions, depending on your specific situation.

Extended Therapy Sessions are 80 minutes long. This is a great option when you feel you would benefit from more time to take things a bit deeper.

  • Initial consultations are complimentary, and are 20 minutes long.

Individual Therapy Sessions are 50 minutes long and are $150

Extended Therapy Sessions are 80 minutes long and are $225.

  • Yes, I do. I offer telehealth appointments as well as in-person office visits at my Bellevue office. While I love being able to be in the same room with you, I also know that there’s a great benefit to being able to connect from anywhere. Your choice :)

  • I am able to accept insurance through Premera and Lifewise. In addition, many of my clients are able to receive reimbursement from their insurance company or employee health spending accounts for my services as an out-of-network provider. Please check with your insurer about their specific policies. I am happy to provide you with documentation that you can send to your insurance company for reimbursement.
